Granite color choices

Natural colors, selected for beauty and readability.

Granite is available in a range of natural colors and patterns. We most often recommend Black Galaxy granite because it creates the strongest contrast with light lettering, helping names, dates, multilingual inscriptions, portraits, and detailed artwork remain clear and easy to read.

Specialized Muslim Family Guidance

Guidance Rooted in Islamic Values

At Mecca Stones, we understand that choosing a memorial is not only a personal decision but also one guided by faith. As a Muslim-owned business, we are familiar with many of the Islamic traditions and considerations that families may wish to observe when selecting a memorial.

One important consideration is the use of Qur'anic verses or the names of Allah on flat markers that are installed flush with the ground. Because these markers may be walked on by visitors or cemetery maintenance staff, we generally do not recommend engraving sacred verses or the names of Allah on them, out of respect for the words of Allah.

Instead, we can help you choose other meaningful inscriptions, such as a respectful Islamic phrase, a du'a (supplication), or a personalized message. If you would like to include Qur'anic verses, we can also discuss options that may be more appropriate, such as upright memorials, where permitted by the cemetery.

Because we specialize in serving Muslim families, we are familiar with Islamic considerations that may not be discussed during the memorial selection process. We are here to help you make informed decisions with care, respect, and sensitivity to your family's beliefs.

Helpful Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Every cemetery and every family is different. These answers are a helpful starting point, and we are always available by phone or text for personal guidance.

Do you create memorials for families of every faith?

Yes. Mecca Stones is a Muslim-owned business with specialized experience in Islamic memorials, and we respectfully serve families of all faiths and backgrounds.

Which languages can be used on a memorial?

We regularly work with English, Arabic, Dari, and Farsi, and we can discuss other languages with your family. You will review and approve the complete design before production begins.

How do I know which memorial my cemetery allows?

Cemetery rules can vary by location and section. During your consultation, we can help you review the cemetery's size, material, finish, and installation requirements before the memorial is made.

Will I see the design before the memorial is made?

Yes. We provide a detailed design proof for your review. Production begins only after you have approved the wording, layout, artwork, portraits, languages, and other details.

How long does a custom memorial take?

The timeline depends on the memorial style, material availability, design approvals, cemetery requirements, and delivery location. After learning about your project, we will explain the expected schedule before you place your order.

Do you install the memorial at the cemetery?

In most cases, the cemetery handles installation. When installation is not provided, we can help refer you to a trusted professional installer.

Can you help families outside Southern California?

Yes. Contact us with the cemetery location and the type of memorial you need, and we will discuss the available delivery or shipping options for your project.

Can Qur'anic verses be engraved on a flat marker?

Because a flat marker may be walked on, we generally do not recommend placing Qur'anic verses or the names of Allah on it. We can suggest respectful alternatives or discuss an upright memorial where cemetery rules permit one.
